Tunkhannock boys sweep meet

The Tunkhannock Area boys’ cross country team took a trio of wins at a home meet held at the Kiwanis Wyoming County Fairgrounds in Meshoppen on Wednesday, while the girls finished the day 2-1.
The Tiger boys finished with a 29-29 victory (sixth finisher tiebreaker) over Hazleton and 15-50 wins over Hanover and Nanticoke. Tunkhannock’s girls took 15-50 wins over Hanover and Nanticoke while taking a 21-34 loss to Hazleton.
Leading the way for the boys’ team was Alex Nole with a fifth place finish at 17:16, as Hazleton’s Jacob Featherman took first at 16:16.
Jack Tidball took seventh for the Tigers at 17:18, Carson Ayers finished in eighth at 17:27, Ben Siegel took ninth at 17:30, John Loomis finished 10th at 18:04 and Jacob Toczko came in 11th at 18:13.
Also finishing for the Tigers were James Proulx (14th-18:42), Nick Ide (15th-18:56), Joey Moffitt (23rd-20:07), Robert Nast (24th-20:19), Justin Stonier (25th-20:23), Sam Kelly (27th-20:53), Kyle Shupp (32nd-21:21), Jake Sickler (34th-21:30), John Shebby (37th-22:02), Brandon Bemmett (42nd-23:01), Colin Franko (45th-24:41) and Angelo Marruzzelli (46th-26:23).
On the girls’ side, Tunkhannock was paced by a second place finish from Maggie Toczko at 19:45, while Nicole Buehrle of Hazleton took first at 19:34.
Coming in behind Toczko was Erin Rome in fifth at 21:28, Lexi Perbola in ninth at 22:15, Morgan Manglaviti in 10th at 22:36, Taylor Schultz in 12th at 23:13, Autumn Frost in 15th at 23:26 and Megan Manglaviti in 18th at 24:32.
Also finishing for the Tiger girls were Maggie Elias (22nd-25:51), Desirae Flaherty (23rd-26:12), Lindsay Heck (24th-26:29), Lia DeLyon (29th-30:39).
Tunkhannock will next face Holy Redeemer, Coughlin and Wyoming Seminary at Holy Redeemer on Oct. 3, and finish out the regular season at Dallas against the Mountaineers, Crestwood and MMI on Wednesday, Oct. 10.
