Elk Lake’s boys’ basketball team will look to improve on a 6-8 Lackawanna League Division III record for last season.

The Warriors, coached by John Warnero, will have plenty of help as they return a handful of talented players to the lineup.

Elk Lake brings back senior Robert Heft, and juniors Pete McGee, Nick Dudock, Tanner Reyan, Tyler Arnold and Matt Woolcock, who will look to lead the Warriors to a winning season.

“Our goals for the season are to play hard, play smart and play together on every possession,” Warnero said.

Despite losing a pair of seniors, Ryan Wilson and Matt Cuomo, Elk Lake should have no trouble competing in a competitive league.

“I really think any one of the returning players have the ability to do great things together,” Warnero said.

The Warriors will, however, have to contend in a balanced, tough Division III.

“Our division is really balanced. It’s a tough game every night,” Warnero said. “Susquehanna and Blue Ridge return some very talented players.”

Elk Lake gets its season underway on Friday, Dec. 7, at Carbondale, at 7 p.m., in the Mike “Red” Wallace Memorial Game.
