Noxen Township approved a 2013 budget with a drop in taxes.

Yes, you read that right.

With supervisors Carl Shook and Cathie Pauley voting to approve and Dave Hettesheimer not present, Noxen signed its 2013 budget Thursday night at $294,646.

It took less than 10 minutes in the municipal building to give the ok to a budget that had been on review since early December.

Shook said the supervisors were trying to do the best they can for the community.

But, he cautioned, “If we need to raise it next year, then we have to.”

Noxen will hold its next meeting – a reorganization one – on January 7 at 7 p.m. in the old Noxen Schoolhouse.
