Warriors take trio of wins

The Elk Lake boys’ basketball team grabbed a 64-24 win over Forest City on the road Saturday after it took a 65-62 victory over Mountain View at home on Thursday night and a 68-33 victory over Northeast Bradford at home Wednesday.

On Saturday, the Warriors jumped out to an early lead and held it as they paced Forest City 17-3 in the first quarter and 16-13 in the second to lead 33-16 at halftime.

In the second half, Elk Lake led the way 15-2 in the third and 16-6 in the fourth to cap the win.

Rob Heft scored 14 points while Matt Woolcock and Tyler Arnold each added 11 points to pace the Warriors.

Mountain View game

On Thursday, Warrior coach John Warnero picked up his 100th career victory as Elk Lake edged the Eagles 65-62.

It was a tight game throughout the first half with the Eagles taking an early 18-14 lead after the first quarter. Elk Lake battled back to hold a two point lead, 33-31, at halftime.

After the break, Mountain View brought the game to within one with a 12-11 run over Elk Lake in the third, but a 21-19 fourth quarter for the Warriors was enough to beat the Eagles.

Tanner Reyan and Rob Heft each scored seven points in the fourth quarter to lead the Warriors to the win as Heft finished with a game-high 24 points and Reyan added 21. Matt Woolcock chipped in 10.

The Warriors took an early lead with a 21-6 run in the first quarter and went on to pace the Rangers 23-13 in the second to hold a 44-19 lead at the half.

In the second half, the Warriors outscored Northeast Bradford 15-7 in the third and 9-7 in the fourth to cap the victory.

Heft scored 17 points to lead Elk Lake while Reyan, Nick Dudock and Tyler Arnold each dropped in 11.
