Washington Twp. names new chair

At its reorganization meeting Monday, Washington Township supervisors named William Ball chairman, replacing Daniel Huff.

Huff will serve as vice chairman.

The township also appointed Russ Carney to its vacancy board and Attorney Paul Litwin as solicitor.

Township secretary Lora Seidel will continue as open records officer, and a prime delegate for tax collection committee for Act 13.

Dawn Ball and Huff will be back up officers.

Osbert Patton will serve as sewage enforcement officer. The alternate officers will be Donald Carey and James Gaidula.

Holly Greene is emergency management coordinator.

Gerald Bennett will continue for another four years as the head of the planning commission.

Township supervisors also set the mileage reimbursement rate of .565 cents.

After reorganizing, a general meeting followed.

As of Jan. 1, Meshoppen Borough police began providing coverage for Washington Township.  To complete her report Seidel acknowledged Tunkhannock borough’s coverage for 2012

Huff noted that Procter & Gamble direction signs are now installed on U.S. Rt. 6.

However, he noted that P&G wants to put in some mile marker signs as well.

Supervisors also noted that the township office would be closed Jan. 28-Feb. 11, as Seidel will be on vacation

Supervisors’ regular meeting is the second Wednesday of the month at 7 p.m.
