A 27-year-old Tunkhannock man faces 19-48 months in state prison for his involvement in a crime spree toward the end of 2011.

Jason Albert Bartsch, of Treetop Lane, appeared before President Judge Russell Shurtleff on Wednesday and solemnly accepted his punishment.

Attorney Deborah Albert-Heise said her client was willing to do whatever it took to get his life turned around but recognized the gravity of what he did meant time in prison.

Under a plea arrangement in November with District Attorney Jeff Mitchell, Bartsch also faced charges in three additional incidents that were dropped at the time of sentencing.

According to court documents, Bartsch admitted to cutting the power wires to CVS Pharmacy in Tunkhannock on Oct. 11, 2011, thinking he had deactivated a burglary alarm, but when he threw a rock through the front door of the CVS store, the alarm system went off.

Also on the same date, Bartsch is alleged to have unlawfully entered Wayne Automotive & Collison where he pried a door open and took some tools.

On Dec. 23, 2011, Bartsch also entered two Billings Mill Road properties in Tunkhannock Township. In one incident he took possession of a 1960 Mercury Comet, and in the other he took a utility trailer and riding lawnmower.

For the burglary at Wayne Automotive, he was sentenced to 6-12 months in state prison. For a charge of criminal attempt to commit trespass in the case of CVS, he was sentenced to 1-12 months; and for the two charges of theft by unlawful taking Bartsch faced sentences of 6-12 months, all to be served consecutively and with additional restitution.
