Athlete of the Week: Dylan Harris
On Jan. 29 in a 83-73 loss at Riverside High School, Lackawanna Trail senior Dylan Harris scored 25 points to lead the Lion team. On Saturday, Harris dropped in 17 points to lead Trail in a 45-35 win over Mountain View. He is also the team’s leading scorer this season, averaging 11.8 points per game.
For his accomplishment, Harris has been named the Wyoming County Press Examiner’s Athlete of the Week.

Three people I’d like to have dinner with… actor Leonardo DiCaprio and NBA players Joe Johnson and Kevin Durant.
Post-graduation plans… “I am hoping to attend Cedarville University and major in Criminal Justice.”
Superstitions or rituals… “Not really, I just listen to my music before each game.”
How does it feel to lead your team in scoring this season? “It’s a great feeling. We have a lot of good guys on our team. We’ve struggled a lot in the first half of the season but we’re hopefully getting back on track.”
In your 25-point game against Riverside, what do you attribute your success to? “My teammates knew I had a hot hand and got me the ball. I’ve also been working really hard in practice.”
What is the team dynamic like at Lackawanna Trail this season? “We try to play team basketball. We have two big guys inside in Devin Walsh and Matt Decker, and Dalton Mecke, Ross Fauquier and myself are strong shooters. We can control teams at the post or on the outside.”
What are the goals for the Lion team this year? “We plan to come out and win the second half championship. The majority of the rest of our games are at home. We’d really like to be in the league championship game.”
When did you first start playing basketball? “I first got interested when I was in elementary school, probably around fourth or fifth grade. I’ve pretty much played my whole life.”
Who are your biggest role models? “My dad is a great role model, he really pushes me. My mom too, she comes to every game and supports me.”
What would be your ideal way to finish off your senior year? “Winning the league would be a nice way to finish my career.”
