Tunkhannock Area junior Ben Siegel and freshman Dalton Ray took third places at last weekend’s District 2-AAA wrestling tourney and advance to regionals.

At Hazleton Area High School Saturday, Siegel at 152 pounds and Ray at 160 pounds garnered third place in their respective weight classes and will be the only Tigers competing this coming weekend at the Northeast Regionals at Bethlehem Liberty High School.

In the team scoring, the Tigers finished in fourteenth place with Delaware Valley running away with top honors.

Receiving medals but not advancing to regionals were Tigers’ Chris Packer (138) and Andrew Muckin (195), both winning fifth place bouts.

Tunkhannock head coach Bob Hegedty was honored during the Class AAA tournament with the Wyoming Valley Wrestling Conference Class AAA Sportsmanship Award.

He was given the honor by the Wyoming Valley District II PIAA Wrestling Officials’ Association for his role in revitalizing the Tiger wrestling program.
