Warriors’ season ended
The Elk Lake boys’ basketball team’s season was ended with a loss to Mid Valley in the third place game of the District II Class AA tournament at Carbondale on Saturday.
Elk Lake faced a 75-48 loss from the Spartans to narrowly miss a shot at competing in the state tournament.
The Warriors held strong against the Spartans in the first half, trailing 19-11 after the first quarter.
The Warriors then outscored Mid Valley, 18-16, in the second to trail by only six points, 35-29, at halftime.
However, Mid Valley came out swinging in the second half, pacing Elk Lake, 20-7, in the third, and 20-12 in the fourth to cap the victory.
Rob Heft poured in 22 points for the Warriors and Tanner Reyan added 13 to lead the way for Elk Lake, which finishes out the season at 20-6.
