Elk Lake’s Sonya Griffiths started play in the second round against Honesdale’s Jeneen Galik and cruised to 6-2 wins in both sets.

Tunkhannock head coach Jeff Underwood fielded a young team this year and hopes that this season will be a stepping stone for a more successful 2014.
“This year was a learning and rebuilding year for us,” Underwood said. “Our record may not show a lot, but the girls had fun and had lots of practice and we’ll be practicing more in the
winter and spring. The girls really enjoyed the game and I enjoyed coaching them so I’m really looking forward to the experience we’ll bring back next season.”
Montrose’s Anna Ruseski started the day for the Lady Meteors players against Wyoming Area’s Anna Thomas in the first round, and won both sets, 7-6 (5) and 6-4.
Ruseski advanced to the second round to face Wyoming Seminary’s Madison Nardone where she would be eliminated from competition after losing both sets 6-3.

Reed would fall in the third round against Joanlenne, who won in straight sets, 6-1, 6-0.
Each school was also represented in the early rounds of the District II Class AA doubles championships at Kirby Park which started yesterday, Oct. 8, but results were not available at press time.
