JOSHUA CANNELLA

A 27-year-old Lake Winola man whom detectives discovered some 7,000 images of child pornography, on his home computer, is facing 28-72 months in state prison after being sentenced Wednesday by Wyoming County President Judge Russell Shurtleff.

Joshua David Cannella of Lower Mill City Road, used his time before the judge to emphasize that he is a new creation.

He read a lengthy statement apologizing to the judge, his friends, and family and community.

Cannella said that when he was first arrested in 2015, he was in a major state of denial. He said he was first exposed to pornography at age 7, and it got worse when mixed with drugs.

“I needed help,” he said. “I am truly a prodigal son wandering my life away.”

“But, I am also now repentent and seek redemption,” Cannella said.

In addition to his time in prison and $1,000 in fines, Cannella will have to register as a sexually violent predator under the Adam Walsh Act.
