SHANE FRYER

A 32-year-old Sugar Run man who sold drugs last fall while serving as a Wyoming County constable faces 9-48 months in state prison.

Shane Ryan Fryer appeared Friday morning before President Judge Russell Shurtleff who sentenced him on a single felony charge of criminal use of a communication facility.

The case surfaced after a confidential informant purchased crystal methamphetamine from Fryer on Nov. 14, 2016, during a time when he served as Windham Township constable.

According to court records, Wyoming County Chief Detective Ide along with state police searched Fryer’s home the next day, and Fryer was located in a garage in close proximity to crystal methamphetamine and he had his constable badge on him and was carrying a sidearm.

Judge Shurtleff said Fryer also faced a fine of $1,000 and restitution of $105, and would be taken to Camp Hill for processing in the near future.

He said that any lesser of a sentence would depreciate the seriousness of Fryer’s actions for which the judge said he showed no remorse.

Fryer had previously served in the summer of 2015 on the Laceyville Borough police force for two days, but the appointment was rescinded after it was discovered his liability insurance did not cover borough police work.
