An 18-year-old Hawley-area woman is behind bars after stealing two vehicles and leading police on a chase through two counties on Friday.
According to police, Destiny Amber Presto, 18, Hawley, along with a 15 year old juvenile and a 14 year old juvenile, stole a car in Wyoming County, June 20.
They later abandoned the car and stole a truck.
The trio fled north in the vehicle to Susquehanna County. Troopers attempted to stop the vehicle, but Presto would not stop and a pursuit ensured.
The three teenagers abandoned the vehicle in Dimock Township and led police on a foot pursuit. All three were apprehended in the Dimock area.
The combined effort of law enforcement personnel along with the assistance of the residents of Dimock resulted in the quick apprehension of Presto and the two youths.
Pennsylvania State Police from Susquehanna and Wyoming counties were assisted by other local law enforcement agencies including: detectives from the Susquehanna County district attorney’s office; the Montrose police department; Pennsylvania Fish & Boat; Susquehanna County Probation & Parole the Susquehanna County Sheriff’s Department; and the Pennsylvania Game Commission.
Tpr. John Oliver, of the PSP, Gibson barracks, charged Presto with endangering the welfare of children; conspiracy – receiving stolen property; recklessly endangering another person; and resisting arrest.
The two juveniles face similar charges, according to police.
Presto was arraigned by Magisterial District Judge Jodi Cordner; and waived her Monday, June 23 preliminary hearing in front of Magisterial District Judge Jeffrey Hollister in Montrose District Court.
She is being held on $150,000 bail at the Susquehanna County Correctional Facility.
