A 27-year-old Lake Winola man - whom detectives found with more than 7,000 images of child pornography on his home computer – pleaded guilty Friday to two separate counts of sexual abuse of children.

Joshua D. Cannella, of Lower Mill City Road, Overfield Township, appeared before President Judge Russell Shurtleff in the Wyoming County Court of Common Pleas.

Wyoming County Chief Detective David Ide originally charged Cannella with 100 counts of child pornography which was discovered on May 12, 2015.

That was plea bargained to two separate felony counts of sexual abuse of children.

Cannella had also faced four misdemeanor drug charges which will not be prosecuted under the plea arrangement once sentencing moves forward on the two felony counts.

According to a police criminal complaint, Ide said he received a tip from Lackawanna County authorities who had been investigating unlawful dissemination of intimate images and discovered that Cannella’s home computer also had child pornography on it.

The State Police Computer Crime Laboratory provided Ide with a review of Cannella’s HP Pavilion computer which revealed 7,307 illegal child abuse images and material.

Included were 97 videos and four guides on how to abuse children with depictions of infants and prebuscent teens.

Cannella remains in the Wyoming County jail on $150,000 bail.

Judge Shurtleff noted that under terms of the Adam Walsh Act, Cannella will have to register as a sexual offender for 10 years. He ordered that the defendant be assessed by the state sexual offenders assessment board before sentencing, which has not yet been scheduled.
