A 21-year-old Mehoopany man faces as much as 27 years in state prison after pleading guilty in Wyoming County court to sexual offenses related to having intimate relations with a 14-year-old girl from Sept. 1, 2013, to April 30, 2014, in Mehoopany Township.
Adam Russell Lane was 19 at the time the relationship started, and under the terms of his guilty pleas for statutory sexual assault, unlawful contact with a minor and corruption of minors also faces a maximum of $65,000 in fines.
He is already serving a 6-23.5 month sentence in county jail for a similar incident with another 14-year-old in 2012 in Tunkhannock Twp.
On Friday, President Judge Russell Shurtleff also ordered that before sentencing, Lane needed to go before the state’s Sexual Offenders Assessment Board to determine if he is a sexually violent predator under terms of the Adam Walsh Act.
According to court records, the victim’s mother claimed she was unaware her daughter had been visiting Mr. Lane’s residence, but had learned the victim had sent some naked photos of herself to him by cellphone at his request. Mr. Lane is accused of sending the photos electronically to other people.
The teen told police she would walk to his house to hang out, watch movies and cuddle. Typically, according to a criminal complaint, the victim said Mr. Lane would ask her to perform oral sex on him and they would also have intercourse each time.
