ADAM LANE

A 21-year-old Mehoopany man was sentenced in Wyoming County court Wednesday to 4-11 years in state prison for offenses related to having sexual relations with a 14-year-old girl in 2013 and 2014.

Adam Russell Lane was 19 at the time the relationship started, and under the terms of his sentence will have to register for 25 years as a sexually violent offender under the Adam Walsh Act.

Lane is already serving a 6-23.5 month sentence in county jail for a similar incident with another 14-year-old in 2012 in Tunkhannock Twp.

According to court records, the victim’s mother claimed she was unaware her daughter had been visiting Mr. Lane’s residence, but had learned the victim had sent some naked photos of herself to him by cellphone at his request. Mr. Lane is accused of sending the photos electronically to other people.

The teen told police she would walk to his Mehoopany home to hang out, watch movies and cuddle. However, according to a criminal complaint, oral sex and intercourse was also involved.

On Wednesday, President Judge Russell Shurtleff sentenced Lane to 16-48 months in state prison and a $500 fine, for statutory sexual assault; 18-48 months in state prison and a $500 fine for unlawful contact with a minor; and to 14-36 months in state prison and a $500 fine for corruption of minors.
