Sex assault charges head to county

A 64-year-old Meshoppen man accused of sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl earlier this year had formal charges bound over to Wyoming County Court on Monday.
Larry Allen Bauer of Fairview Street, appeared before Magistrate David Plummer in Factoryville to face charges of corruption of minors and indecent assault, but waived his rights to a preliminary hearing.
According to a police complaint, there had been inappropriate conversations from Bauer to the teen’s cell phone over the past two months.
On July 28, the complaint notes that the alleged victim met with Meshoppen Police Chief John E. Krieg, and she alleged that on a daily basis for the last two months Bauer had been kissing and fondling her.
She also stated that Bauer asked her to send him inappropriate pictures which she did.
He has been in the Wyoming County jail since July 27, on $50,000 bail.
On Tuesday his attorney Jair Novajosky asked for a reduction of bail to $25,000, which defense attorney Jeff Mitchell said he could not support.
Judge Plummer denied the request.
Bauer will be arraigned in the Court of Common Pleas on Sept. 5.
