BROOKE MURRAY

A 36-year-old Philadelphia woman was sentenced in Wyoming County Court Wednesday to at least five years in prison for a statutory sex assault of a 15-year-old male at a Factoryville residence last fall.

Court records note that Brooke M. Murray, of Arrot Street, Philadelphia, came up to the area by bus in October and was to meet with the teen at a mutual friend’s residence.

The friend told police that on the morning of Oct. 22 she woke up in the early morning and heard some noises.

When she went to investigate, the friend told police she saw the victim’s bare buttocks, and noticed Murray’s pants lying by the side of the bed.

Judge Russell Shurtleff told Murray that the offense carried a lifetime registration as a sexual offender under the Adam Walsh Act.

He said the sentence was in the aggravated range because of the crime’s serious nature, and he noted that she would receive 218 days credit for time served since her arrest last fall.
