State police at Tunkhannock investigated a two-vehicle crash that occurred on Jan. 1 on U.S. Route 6 in Meshoppen Township.

Police reported that Richard H. Mosher of Meshoppen was driving a 1995 Jeep Cherokee west on Route 6 at 5:30 p.m., when his vehicle struck the rear of a 2012 Toyota Tacoma operated by Richard A. Pokorney, 52, of Moscow, who had stopped for a red light. Meshoppen Fire Department and ambulance responded to the scene. Mosher was cited for careless driving.

State police at Tunkhannock are investigating a theft from Bluhms Country Store in Laceyville that occurred on Jan. 1.

Police reported that Margo A. Brown, 43, of Laceyville is accused of stealing $74.57 worth of merchandise from Bluhms. Brown was charged with felony retail theft because it is her third offense, police reported, and transported to the Wyoming County Correctional Facility in lieu of $5,000 bail.

State police at Tunkhannock are investigating an incident of retail theft from the Walmart in Eaton Township on Jan. 1.

Police said that James Burgess, 24, of Tunkannock, was caught by Walmart Asset Protection, attempting to remove a deer cleaning knife kit and bracelet from the store without purchasing them. A charge of summary retail theft has been filed against Burgess.

State police at Tunkhannock are investigating a retail theft that occurred at the Walmart in Eaton Township on Jan. 2.

Police said John Dymond, 27, of Tunkhannock, is accused of attempted to steal a cell phone case from the Walmart.

State police arrested a Tunkhannock man on Jan. 1, for violation of Megan’s Law.

Police reported that Lantz Lee Cameron of Tunkhannock was taken into custody and charged with failure to comply with registration, after he failed to report his new employment to the authorities within three business days.

State police at Tunkhannock investigated a one-vehicle break-down that occurred on Jan. 1 on state Route 29 in Lemon Township.

Police reported that Dorothy Bennett, 45, of Tunkhannock, was driving a 1997 Lincoln Towncar south on Route 29 when the left ball joint of the vehicle failed, causing it to become disabled. No injuries were reported.

State police responded to an accident that occurred on Dec. 28 on U.S. Route 6 in Braintrim Township.

Police said that James W. Gorton, 25, of Throop was driving a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 east on Route 6 when his vehicle struck a deer that entered the roadway.

State police at Tunkhannock investigated an incident of simple assault that occurred on U.S. Route 6 on Saturday between Laceyville and Wysox.

According to state police, William R. Scribner, 41, of Laceyville, is accused of striking an unnamed 29-year-old woman several times in the face during an argument, and driving the victim from Laceyville to Wysox against her wishes. Scribner has been charged with simple assault and false imprisonment.

State police at Tunkhannock investigated an incident of retail theft that occurred on Sunday at the Walmart in Eaton Township.

According to police, James M. Gregory Jr., 27, of Glen Lyon, was arrested for retail theft for concealing $53.65 in merchandise in his pants while inside the Walmart store.
