Another year, another winning toss, and another accolade to cap off a decorated career.

Susquehanna University senior Gabrielle Alguire won the Landmark Conference Championship in the javelin for the fourth consecutive year and helped lead the River Hawks to a third place finish.

The Tunkhannock Area grad was also voted by the conference coaches as the Female Field Athlete of the Year at the conference championship meet, which was help on May 7 at Moravian College in Bethlehem.

Alguire made the winning throw on her third attempt of the day with a toss of 45.24 meters (148’ 5”), as only two other competitors cleared the 40-meter mark.

She was also named to the All-Landmark Conference first team for the accomplishment.

Susquehanna finished with 105 points, with Moravian winning the team championship with 245 points and Elizabethtown taking second with 224.

Alguire’s top throw of 155’ 4” came in the season-opening Jim Taylor Invite, with her second best mark in the Bison Open at 151’ 1”.

She will be looking for her fourth-consecutive All-American honors later in the month at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships, scheduled for May 25-27 at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio.

Alguire has moved up in the standings in each year of competition, from seventh as a freshman, to fifth as a sophomore, to second as a junior with her throw of 46.52m (152-07.50).
