On Feb. 12, Tunkhannock Area’s Bill Manley pinned Valley View’s Marc Stine in 3:43 at 120 pounds to help lead the Tigers to a 56-18 win.Manley has amassed more than 30 wins and will look to make a strong showing at the district tournament this weekend.For his accomplishments, Manley has been named the Wyoming County Press Examiner’s Athlete of the Week.

Superstitions or rituals : “I’ll always think about what I’m going to do in the match before it starts and I jump around to get pumped up.”
What were your main goals for this season? “The biggest one is to be a regional qualifier. I wanted to make it to the Kiwanis Tournament finals but I got third, and I wanted to get 25 wins (he has 31 as of now).”
What has been your favorite part of being on t he wrestling team? “Just hanging out with the team at hotel stays and practices.”
What was your game plan in your match against Valley View? “I had a feeling I would be able to win the match so I just went out there and tried some new stuff out.”
What has preparation been like for districts this weekend? “We’ve been practicing pretty hard lately and we’re going up to some other schools to get some different partners to practice against.”
What are you hoping to do at districts? “I’m hoping to take at least fourth to go to regionals because it’s a pretty tough bracket.”
What will your mind set be like for districts? “I’ll probably just be thinking that I’ll want to go all-out the whole time because I know that this is what I’ll look back on over the summer. I’ll try to do my very best with this especially.”
