What was your main goal coming into this season? “One of my personal goals was to have 100 strikeouts which I’m on my way to, and as a team we want to win the division and win the district.”

What is your mind set like before taking the mound? “I try to stay calm and stay loose and I don’t really get nervous or tense before a game because it is what it is. I try to stay focused and try not to get upset on the mound.”

What have been some of the strong points of your pitching this year? “Definitely getting ahead in counts and I’m one of the faster pitchers in the conference so that helps a little bit.”

How has the run support helped you on the mound? “It’s so awesome because when I was a junior or sophomore that was one of the problems that I might pitch a good game but we wouldn’t have any runs, so it definitely takes a little bit of the weight off my shoulders.”

Does your arm get sore after pitching several games a week? “It does but I just ice it and take a lot of ibuprofen and work through it.”

What has been your favorite part of being on the team so far? “This season and last season our team has been so close and it’s so fun to be around everyone because we have a good time and we’re all good teammates for each other. That’s been my favorite part, and winning has definitely helped, too.”
