The Elk Lake boys volleyball team picked up its first win of the season Thursday with a 3-2 victory over Susquehanna after losing 3-0 at Abington Heights on Tuesday, April 11.
The win bumped up the Warriors to 1-4 in Division IV of the Lackawanna League.
Against Susquehanna, the Warriors found themselves in a battle in the opening set and headed into overtime before getting edged, 29-27.
Elk Lake would tie things up with a 25-23 victory in the second set, but would drop the third set, 25-20, to fall back behind.
However, the Warriors rallied to force a final set with a 25-12 win, then fought back for a 16-14 win in the fifth and final set for the victory.
Sophomore Nate Preston had 20 digs, three assists and three kills and senior and Evan DeBonis had five digs, four kills and nine assists to lead the Warriors.
At Abington, the Comets won 25-9 and 25-5 in the first two sets before completing the sweep with a 25-13 win in the final set.
DeBonis had two aces and three digs for Elk Lake in the loss.
