The Tunkhannock Area girls volleyball team picked up its first win of the season Thursday with a come-from-behind victory at Pittston Area.

After losing 3-1 at Dallas on Tuesday, Sept. 5, the Lady Tigers battled back from a two-set deficit for the 3-2 win over Pittston.

Tunkhannock also lost 3-1 on Monday to Wyoming Valley West to drop to 1-3 overall in the Wyoming Valley Conference.

Against Valley West, the Lady Tigers dropped the opening set 25-13 before coming back to win the second, 25-13.

However, Valley West would respond in the third set with a 25-8 win before closing things out with a 25-21 victory in the fourth set.

Senior Jessica Dymond had four kills and an eight-point service run, while junior Molly Goodwin added a nine-point service run.

Senior Angela Colbenson also notched four blocks in the loss.

At Pittston Area, Tunkhannock lost the first two sets, 27-25 and 25-20, before winning 25-8 and taking that momentum into the fourth set to hold on to win, 25-13.

In the fifth and final set, the Lady Tigers were able to pick up the win by edging Pittston, 15-12.

Goodwin had six aces and three blocks, junior Megan Stanley added 18 digs and Dymond hit five kills to lead Tunkhannock.

At Dallas, Tunkhannock fell in the first set, 25-21, and lost a battle in the second set, 26-24, before picking up a win in the third, 25-15.

However, Dallas was able to turn the tables and take the win with a 25-14 victory in the fourth set.

Colbenson recorded five kills and five blocks, Dymond added seven kills and seven digs and junior and Annalise Verbeek contributed 15 assists and 10 digs to lead the Lady Tigers.
