The Tunkhannock Senior Legion team’s bid to repeat as Wyoming Valley American Legion champions came up short, as the team fell short of qualifying for the playoffs with its 6-9 record.
Tunkhannock closed out the season with a 6-5 victory at Greater Pittston on Thursday after dropping a home contest to Mountain Post, 11-5, on July 3.
Against Mountain Post, Tunkhannock answered an early two-run deficit to tie the score in the bottom of the first, but Mountain Post broke the game open with seven runs in the top of the third.
Tunkhannock would score three runs in the bottom of the inning to make the score 9-5 but would be held off the board for the remainder of the game.
Tyler Faux had two hits, including a double, and scored twice, Nick Reposa also had two hits and scored, Jack Fenwick had a hit and drove in two runs, Cage Gregory singled and had an RBI, Connor Hulslander scored and drove in a run and Bryce Brown, Paul DeMarco and Dylan Mislevy each added a hit for Tunkhannock.
David Baltrusaitis took the loss, allowing four hits for six earned runs while striking out one and walking four through 2.1 innings.
Faux scattered six hits and allowed one earned run with five strikeouts and four walks in 4.2 innings of relief.
