Lackawanna Falcons freshman pitcher Amanda Mowry was recently ranked 7th in the nation of all National Junior College Athletic Association Division II pitchers for her low ERA of 1.19.
The rankings were published on the NJCAA website.
The former Elk Lake stand out has started nine games, appearing in ten, and has a record of 7-1 going into Monday’s doubleheader against County College of Morris. Mowry has thrown 53 innings for the Falcons this season. She has struck out 32.
Mowry, who also plays second base, is hitting .296 with six RBIs.
As the winning pitcher in the first game of a double header against Brookdale on April 5, Mowry hurled all seven innings relinquishing five runs, only one of which was earned, on five hits. She struck out four.
Lackawanna split the twin bill that night, but tallied six hits with Mowry providing three of those base hits in the second game. She singled twice and doubled for a perfect 3-3 on the day.
