The Lackawanna Trail boys and girls cross country teams both went 1-4 in a Lackawanna League meet Tuesday (Sept. 26) at Holy Cross.

The girls team dropped to 6-5 overall, beating Susquehanna, 15-50, but losing to Holy Cross (20-41), Scranton Prep (18-44) and Lakeland (25-32).

Sophomores Tori James and Madison Swanchak led the Lady Lions in fourth and 12th place, respectively, finishing in 21:11 and 22:28.

Holy Cross’s Lexi Walsh finished first overall on the 3.1-mile course at McDade Park in 20:04.

On the boys’ side, the Lions fell to 4-9 overall, beating Mountain View, 26-30, but losing to Susquehanna (22-37), Lakeland (15-50), Scranton Prep (16-43) and Holy Cross (16-45).

Holy Cross’s Andrew Healey won the race, finishing in 18:01.

No Trail runners finished in the top 15.

In the junior high race, Trail’s Deagon Ross finished first on the 1.86-mile course, crossing the line with a time of 11:46 to help lead the Lions to five wins.
