A week after taking gold in both freestyle and Greco-Roman style at the state championships, Tommy Traver earned another trophy for the wall.

Traver, a seventh grader at Tunkhannock Area Middle School, was part of the Pennsylvania Schoolboy National Dual Team that won the freestyle team title at the Schoolboy National Duels in Indianapolis, Indiana on Saturday.

The tournament is an all-star dual tournament that pits the best every state has to offer, with Pennsylvania ranking in contention year after year. Traver was hand selected to represent the state, and competed on the ‘Blue Team.’

Pennsylvania Blue defeated Illinois 41-33 in freestyle, winning nine matches to Illinois’s eight. The Blue Team won eight of its nine matchers with bonus points, including six technical fouls and two pins.

In the championship dual, Traver lost his bout in the 105 division, in a 6-1 decision against Will Lewan.

The Blue Team also went on to finish fourth overall in Greco-Roman style.
