The Tunkhannock Senior Legion team picked up its first win of the season with a 12-0 victory over Wilkes-Barre Monday at home.
The win came after three losses to start the year, including an 11-3 defeat to Greater Pittston on Thursday and a 2-1 loss at Plains the day before.
Against Wilkes-Barre, Tunkhannock plated a run in the first and second innings before breaking open the game with eight runs in the third and two more in the fourth to end things after the fifth via the 10-run rule.
Matt Goodwin had three of Tunkhannock’s eight hits, drove in three runs and scored, Tyler Faux had a hit, drove in a run and scored three times and Lane Ceccarelli had a hit, scored and drove in two runs to lead the offense.
Also for Tunkhannock, Connor Hulslander had two hits, scored and drove in a run, Nick Reposa scored, Jack Fenwick had a hit and scored, Brian Muckin scored twice and Bobby Gilpin and Paul DeMarco each had an RBI.
Goodwin would pick up the win, allowing one hit through three innings while striking out four and walking two.
Donnie Faux allowed one hit and had two strikeouts in two innings of relief.
Against Greater Pittston, Tunkhannock fell behind 2-0 after the opening inning before cutting the deficit in half with a run in the bottom of the second.
However, Greater Pittston was able to take control of the rest of the game, scoring runs in the third and fourth innings before pulling away with five runs in the top of the fifth.
Reposa had two of Tunkhannock’s four hits, Fenwick scored twice and Faux also crossed the plate, David Baltrusaitis added a hit and drove in a run and Ceccarelli had an RBI.
Jake Stephens took the loss, allowing six runs, two of them earned, off two hits with five walks in four innings.
Tunkhannock is back in action when it hosts Nanticoke on Friday at 5:45 p.m.
